Sikorsky Aircarft Corporation
Sikorsky procured a visual channel for an engineering development simulator for the U.S. Navy SEAHAWK (SH–60), which performs an array of sea borne operations, including submarine hunting, missile targeting, anti-surface ship warfare, strike warfare and search and rescue. The visual system consists of CATI′s X–IG image generation software running on COTS PC Hardware and COTS graphics cards. There is no proprietary firmware or middle ware of any type. Ordered by the flight simulation facility in Stratford, Connecticut, Sikorsky purchased two visual channels for use on an engineering development simulator for their newest medium-lift helicopter, the S–92. The S–92 first flew in December 1998 and received flight certification in 2002. Based on U.S. Army BLACK HAWK and U.S. Navy SEAHAWK helicopters, the S–92 serves a variety of commercial and international utility needs, including passenger (19–22 capacity), cargo, aero-medical, search and rescue and resource development support. The S–92 is also designed for offshore oil and executive transport use. With its low purchase price and operating cost, roomy interior and quiet cabin, the S–92 stands to become one of Sikorsky′s most useful and versatile helicopters to hit the skies.
