CATI completes Enhanced Helicopter Dust Model Integration

Daleville, Alabama – August 13, 2010

CATI Training Systems recently completed the design, integration and testing of enhanced dust model into their X-IG™ Image Generator Visual System software, for use on advanced helicopter training systems. This new visual modeling effect will provide an advanced level of realism and fidelity to satisfy the training demand for low visibility scenarios. Utilizing the latest COTS computers and graphics processor units and a unique physics based particle system; independent ′life′ is created for each of the particles, whereby movement is effected by the both induced rotor and environmental winds. Collective position and rotor speed are also incorporated into the model and the instructor operator has the ability to control density, and height. Additional tunable parameters include radial and vertical speeds for particles, and parameters for configuration of various rotor sizes and location. The US Army advanced helicopter simulators included in this upgrade include the UH-60A/L and CH-47D, Lift Simulator Modernization Program (LSMP), UH-60A/L Additional Black Hawk Flight Simulators (ABHFS).
